Starts with a sketch.
Visualize It Inc. approached us with a challenge: to replace an existing design at Scotia Plaza with a modern, chandelier-inspired holiday decoration. They envisioned a semi-circular chandelier adorned with draping lights, but the project came with strict requirements.
Following a brief site visit, we assessed the dimensional constraints and created a precise digital twin of the building's existing wall hook. This allowed us to design a solution tailored to the space. Our final design featured a sleek, hidden mounting system that utilized the existing wall hook and incorporated secure locking hardware. We provided detailed technical drawings to ensure seamless implementation.
Stress simulations.
We ran stress tests on different frame designs using various materials and load scenarios to find the best option for strength and durability. The final choice was a mild steel square tube frame, chosen for its superior load capacity and safety margin.
Visualizing the design.
To help visualize the final design, we created a high-quality 3D rendering of the chandelier. This digital model showcased the intricate details, including the mounting system, allowing the client to see exactly how the piece would function within the space. The rendering was an essential tool for gaining approval and fine-tuning the aesthetics before production.
Storage and delivery system.
To ensure safe storage and efficient transportation of the decoration, we designed a modular, stackable storage crate system. Each crate was engineered to fit securely within standard dimensions, allowing four crates to be stacked per pallet. This design streamlined the delivery process while protecting the components during transit and storage, ensuring the decoration would arrive in perfect condition.
Implementation.
The decorations were manufactured in Europe and shipped to Visualize It Inc., who performed the installation at Scotia Plaza. This collaborative approach ensured that the new decorations were seamlessly integrated into the space, meeting both aesthetic and functional goals.
